Funding for the CBS Recreation Complex
February 24, 2022
Earlier today I had the pleasure of accompanying President and Head Coach of Canada’s first Inclusivity Squash Program, Mr. Eric Hart, CBS Mayor Darrin Bent, ParaSport NL President, Margaret Tibbo, Squash NL President Jeff Tulk, and CBS Lions Club members Warrick Cluney and Janine Howse for a very special funding announcement which will help facilitate a more accessible squash court at the CBS Recreation Complex.
This pandemic-resilient project in Conception Bay South was approved for funding through Infrastructure Canada under the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative.
The Canadian Inclusivity Squash Program, CBS, NL has been approved under the program for $59,214 in funding to help facilitate upgrades to the viewing areas of the Squash courts at the CBS Recreation Complex making it easier for spectators to watch games being played on the court. Upgrades to the entrance to the courts also include making the current doors wider to allow wheelchairs to get on and off the court easily which is great news for the athletes who want to take part in the province’s first ever Wheelchair Squash program!
The funds will also go towards the purchase of 7 Sports Wheelchairs, and 30 face shields for the athletes.
