Making Homes More Energy Efficient
May 27, 2021
We all need a place to call home and by making our homes as energy efficient as possible we reduce our overall impact on the environment around us and on the world we live. Climate action starts at home it's that simple. That's why we’re launching the Canada Greener Homes Grant so Canadians can lower their energy bills and make their homes more comfortable while lowering emissions.
Our Government has launched a $2.6 billion, seven-year program to help Canadians lower the cost of their energy bills, improve the energy efficiency of their homes and fight climate change.
Homeowners are eligible for:
  • Grants of up to $5,000 for home energy efficiency upgrades;
  • Up to $600 to support the cost of EnerGuide evaluations;
  • The Canada Greener Homes Grant is retroactive to December 1st 2020, provided homeowners completed an EnerGuide evaluation prior to the retrofit work and have the documentation to upload to the online portal.
  • Homes and buildings in Canada make up 18 percent of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. Retrofitting existing homes will take us a long way towards exceeding our climate goals.
  • Home retrofits are good for your wallet, good for the economy, and good for the planet. Canadians want to do their part and now with the Canada Greener Homes Grant, they can. This gets us closer to net-zero emissions by 2050.
