Funding Through the Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund
May 19, 2021
Today I’m pleased to announce that two projects in
#Avalon will be the recipients of funding through our government’s Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund.
The Town of Cape Broyle will receive $33,900 from the federal government to make up a total of $62,100 in funding to make retrofits to their community centre which include:
Install a heat-pump in order to switch from furnace oil to electric heat,
Replace existing windows with new Energy Star rated windows and,
Add exterior insulation to the building and air sealing
The
Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre through the Environmental Education Commission will receive approximately $33,500 from the Government of Canada and a total funding of $54,470 to make their facility on Salmonier Line more dependant on greener energy by:
Transitioning from propane and diesel to cleaner energy,
Installing solar heating and,
Implementing energy conservation measures, such as the installation of low-flow shower heads
Organizations across this province and across the country are embracing the future and leveraging these funds to help them transition for today and for the future generations who will use these facilities.
I’m very proud to have two groups right here in Avalon embrace these changes, and look forward to seeing many more do the same in the near future.
